The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association was first organized in 1947, and today is one of the largest coaches associations in the country with more than 4,000+ members. Among its efforts, the association provides:

  • Fifteen Scholarships annually,
  • Player of the Year awards for Boys and Girls in each division,
  • Coach of the Year awards for Boys and Girls in each division,
  • Mr. and Ms. Basketball – Players of the Years in the State of Ohio
  • Special Awards to the Top 10 Academic All-Ohio Players for boys and girls in all four division,
  • Gold Certificates to Senior Players in each high school with 3.2 grade point averages or better for seven semesters,
  • Silver Certificates to Juniors Players for 3.2 or better grade point averages for five semesters,
  • Bob Arnzen Award for coaches who have been at one school for more than 20 years,
  • Top Team / Individual Free Throw Shooting in the State for both Boys and Girls,
  • Top Team / Individual Two Point Field Goal Shooting in the State for Boys and Girls,
  • Top Team / Individual Three Point Field Goal Shooting in the State for both Boys and Girls,
  • Assistant Coach of the Year
  • Top Five Academic Teams for Boys & Girls
  • Century Award Winners to all Coaches who reach a Century plateau (100, 200, 300, etc wins) at All Coaching Levels, and
  • Boys and Girls Coach with Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Awards.

Along with its many other activities, the association represents the Basketball Coaches at all meetings of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, sponsors an Annual Fall Basketball Clinic, publishes Hooplines, provides a Job Placement Service, sponsors the Boys & Girls Top 100 Boys Showcase, sponsors the Hall of Fame Banquet, provides state championship rings to coaches, gives the Paul Walker Award, and sponsors the Ohio North-South All Star Game and the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game.
